The successful Programme Manager will manage a programme, where the principal responsibility and objective is contract fulfilment and hence the end-to-end delivery whilst ensuring that all activities and deliverables are met within the agreed terms of contract including timescale, specifications, quality and budget, to the satisfaction of and acceptance by the customer.
Key Tasks
To plan, set-up, organize, document, execute and conclude a programme in accordance with approved processes, procedures, methods and tools whilst employing a ‘Best Practices' approach in all instances.
To carry out day-to-day activities effectively and efficiently within the framework of Thales corporate policies, directives and instructions.
To manage the customer relation and the customer's expectations and thus handle changes together with the requirements for the programme.
Present and report the programme progress
To assist Marketing to achieve market and business objectives as part of the offer and contract negotiation team.
Define, establish, manage and lead a high performing and successful integrated programme organisation, including individual and team resource profiling
To implement, maintain and manage all elements of project management including: integration, value, scope, quality, procurement, time, finance, human resource, risk, opportunities and communications.
For the setting and implementation of programme delivery strategies, including that required for maximizing opportunities, and to mitigate and minimize risks.
Responsible for achieving and endeavouring to improve programme cost budget.
Responsible for ensuring that programme plans and estimates for bids are appropriately developed and reviewed
Technical & Professional skills
Experience and a proven track record for delivery in a technical, complex and sizeable Project environment
Good understanding of Project/Programme Management including: integration, value, scope, quality, procurement, time, finance, human resource, risk, opportunities and communications.
Earned Value Management, and Business Accounting practices is an advantage.
Working knowledge of project management tools/software including enterprise tools such as SAP, Oracle or similar
Project Management certification to minimum level C through a national/international-recognised authority [APM, PRINCE, PMI or equivalent] is preferred or at least a defined plan for achieving this.
Masters degree with specialisation in Project Management or similar is an advantage
Engineering familiarity likely to include s/w, h/w and systems engineering
Additional Information
Will need to be mobile / flexible enough to visit other sites both in the UK and internationally at short notice
Must be able to obtain Security Clearance
