Reinventing Yourself at Midlife

The fundamental purpose of midlife is to figure out who you are and who you want to be as we get ready to embark on the second half of life. It's a topic that you hear during many conversations with friends and colleagues: how to make a midlife career change. The following are tips that will help you to reinvent yourself:
  • If you're thinking about making a huge change, especially one that's particularly risky, such as going back to the university, you may want to take small and gradual steps. For instance, enrolling in a degree program might not seem too difficult, however if you think about the financial impact to your savings, it's definitely not a decision you want to take lightly. In fact, try to make sure that the change you're making fits into your life

  • Trust and believe in yourself. You may be leaving one career, but believe that you're replacing it with another job possibility

  • Don't worry about what other people think or do. It can be a difficult plan or undertaking to achieve, so if you can't get it out of your mind, then at least resolve not to let it prevent you

  • Consider why you want to make changes at this stage of your life. It's important to trust and believe in yourself. With that positive attitude, you then have the ability to put any negative set backs, which may prevent you from moving forward to a better future. Try to find your confidence and stick to your inner strength
